What are tornadoes?
A violently rotating column of air touching the ground is usually attached to a thunderstorm's base. Tornadoes are nature's "most violent storms."
Where does it happen?
Tornadoes are possible everywhere but with certain conditions. Most tornadoes occur in the central plains of North America, east of the rocky mountains and West of the Appalachian mountains,

Formation of tornadoes:
Mild storms (thunderstorms or sandstorms) can often result in death-leading, extreme weather conditions. But how do storms form?
First of all, the sun plays an important role in the formation of storms. The sunshine heats the ground which heats the air near ground level and the surrounding air starts to turn warm.
Eventually, when the above process occurs in an environment where winds increase strongly with the height, the thunderstorm updraught may begin to rotate.
As a result, the rotation is so strongly focused that a narrow column of violently rotating air forms. If this violently-rotating column of air reaches the ground a tornado is born.
Tornadoes can be so dangerous that they are known as nature's "most violent storms."
