Are you a student who has no motivation at all to study? and no matter what you study you just can't remember the things you learn.

Or are you a student who has exams near and still hasn't prepared for them, and now you are cramming all the materials? Trust me these are never going to work because our minds cannot store so much data in so little time So, with no doubt, when you see the paper you are going to forget everything?

1. Review, review, review

Have you ever read a book, read a new chapter, or learned new words but after some time you tend to remember none of it?

If so, it’s a sign that your memory has faded because you haven’t used it for a while. Let me explain this:

Our brains are divided into two parts: -

1. Short-term memory

2. Long-term memory

When we learn, read, watch or do any other activity it goes into the short-term memory but if we keep repeating, revising, and reviewing the things it will shift into the long-term memory. If we don't review and repeat things again and again they will fade from our short-term memory. That's why some people remember the things they have read in the past and some forget even what they've studied in class yesterday.

As a student, you must remember the 3R's revise, review, and repeat.

2. Essay writing

I bet you haven't heard about essay writing as a study tip but trust me give it a try and you won't regret it.

Essay writing has many benefits as if you are learning about computers for instance, take a piece of paper and write what you already know and what you have learned about that specific topic (like a summary) first give the introduction, then in the body of the essay give the details, facts or important points. Before exams, you can go through the essays at once and go through all the important details.

Then secondly. it will also help you in improving your writing skill which will help you in your academics as well.

3. Learn from your past experiences or mistakes.

Everyone makes mistakes and it's normal but only some people learn from their mistakes. Researchers believe that mistakes are a great opportunity to learn and improve.

"A smart man makes a mistake, learns from it, and never makes that mistake again." – Roy H. Williams (1958-), U.S. author and marketing expert.

Think of the last time you made a mistake, did you just apologize for it and carried on or you really improved it?

The most important thing to remember is that you have to own your mistakes. If you keep blaming others for your mistakes, you will end up repeating the same mistakes. It is very important for students, especially to learn from their mistakes. Go through your past papers and tests to see where you have made mistakes and try to improve them. This will make you feel proud of what you have achieved. As a student, you will also have an idea of the pattern of the papers which will help you a lot in your preparation.
